CHAPEL HILL– The No. 9 Carolina women’s basketball team, 15-3 overall and 3-1 in league play, enter their Sunday 1 p.m. game at Boston College, 11-7 overall and 2-2 in the ACC, on a roll having won 10 of their last 11 contests.

The Tar Heels claimed an impressive 78-55 win against Clemson Thursday night in Chapel Hill. Boston College is coming off a tight 63-62 home win over Miami. The Eagles have won eight straight in Chestnut Hill.

Diamond DeShields has stepped up her game in the last three outings, averaging 23.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in that span. The ACC Rookie of the Week made four three-pointers for the second straight time in the Clemson game.

Carolina has won the previous four road games at Boston College. Last year, head coach Sylvia Hatchell became just the third women’s coach ever to reach 900 win milestone.

BC took a 63-57 with 1:30 left, but Miami scored the next five to pull within one point, however, the Hurricanes missed two layups in the final 10 seconds to allow the Eagles to escape with a victory.

The Tar Heels will follow up Sunday’s game with a trip over to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest on Thursday.
