Carolina Men’s Soccer has jumped to No. 1 in the national polls this week, following a 2-0 victory against William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia Tuesday.

The Heels led 19-7 in shots with scores by Tyler Engel and Carolina’s leading scorer and reigning National Player of the Week, Andy Craven. Engel nailed a quick goal in the eighth minute by scoring on the first shot of the game.

UNC’s defense was phenomenal, and keeper Thomas Moore kept the Tribe off of the board by making three saves that night – his fourth consecutive no-score performance. Carolina has not yet allowed a goal to be scored in the entire month of September.

The Heels will fight to continue their streak as they travel to Durham on Friday to play Duke at 7 p.m., on ESPN3.
