The 97.9 The Hill WCHL studio had special guests on air today, when Wayne and Sharron Phillips sat down to speak with Ron Stutts about the LIVESTRONG program at local YMCA’s.

Wayne and Sharon are both cancer survivors and participants in the 12-week program, which is designed to to help patients build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve energy levels and self-esteem.

They were joined by Rebecca Marino, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA Healthy Living Director, to discuss how the LIVESTRONG program has affected their lives.

“This is a great opportunity to improve your life in general, even if you haven’t gone through cancer. It gives you some accountability working in a group, it exposes you to a lot of different things you wouldn’t volunteer to. It just puts a lot of things out there that you wouldn’t look for yourself and then there’s the accountability of the group. You’re in a group and you want to go through all these things together.”
