After 11 years of service on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education, Annetta Streater – this week’s WCHL Hometown Hero – is stepping down from her role on the board. Since 2006, Streater has been committed to the best education for the children of our community, an attitude that she says will not change with her resignation.

During her time with the school board, Streater was an integral part of establishing three new schools, renovating existing institutions, and managing significant district growth. New constructions were focused on sustainability and efficiency, and gained recognition for being forward-thinking additions to the community.
