On the Sunday before Election Day, Cat’s Cradle will be the setting for a Stand Against HB2 concert.

More than a dozen artists are scheduled to perform.  It all starts at noon on Sunday, November 6.  The bands scheduled to perform are The Love Language, The Veldt, Foxture, Henbrain, Pre-Raphaelites, Olsen Twins, My 3 Sons, Happy Abandon, Onward, Soldiers, Blue Cactus, the grand shell game, Matt Phillips & the Back Pocket, The Fabulous Knobs, Pinto, the dB’s, Brett Harris, 6 String Drag, Tres Chicas, Robert Kirkland, Rod Abernethy, Ur Mom, Orlando Parker, Jr., and Someone’s Sister.

Equality NC has been a beneficiary of funds from multiple concerts following the passage of House Bill 2 in March.  Donations to Equality NC were made by Dave Matthews Band, The Lumineers, Duran Duran, and many more.

HB2 strips local governments in the state from passing laws that would grant anti-discrimination protection to people in the LGBT community.  It also removes any power that local and county governments have to adopt living wage ordinances.  Most of the controversy regarding the law has centered on a provision that requires a person to use the public bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.  Recently, a federal court blocked the UNC System from enforcing the bathroom provision of the law.
