They’re some of Chapel Hill’s best actors, and on Monday they’ll be performing some of Broadway’s greatest songs – with a twist. (And for a cause.)

This Monday, April 10, Local 506 in Chapel Hill is playing host to the fifth annual “Broadway Twisted” event – an evening of gender-swapped showtunes, with men singing songs that were written for women and women singing songs that were written for men. (The event is a take on “Broadway Backwards,” held every year in New York City.) If you’re a fan of PlayMakers Repertory Company, you’ll see quite a few of your favorites on stage – plus some of the visiting actors currently on stage in PlayMakers’ production of “My Fair Lady.”

It’s all to raise funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS – as well as the North Carolina AIDS Action Network (NCAAN), which works to improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS through public education, community building, and public policy advocacy in Raleigh.

Schuyler Scott Mastain will be one of the performers Monday night; he and NCAAN executive director Lee Storrow discussed “Broadway Twisted” with Aaron Keck on WCHL. (Mastain also performed a bit of his song – “Burn,” from “Hamilton.”)
