Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival

October 10-13, Pittsboro, NC

Even though this festival has already opened and the weather hasn’t been great this week, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance has more to offer for the rest of the weekend than any one person can handle. Groups like Holy Ghost Tent Revival and Yonder Mountain String Band headline a ridiculous list of bands and DJs coming to Pittsboro from Thursday to Sunday. Bands play all day on one of four stages and DJs play into the night, but the best part might be the home-grown food and art on display for all to enjoy.
footerlogoLocal artists have one-of-a-kind items for sale, and hungry festival-goers can visit an eclectic food court or a 24-hour coffee house that bucks the DIY approach taken by most festivals. The family-friendly atmosphere also includes many activities for children and parents alike. Without a doubt, this is a great chance to be surrounded by a weekend full of live music and good vibes. Bring a tent for the weekend, or grab a few chairs and check out one of the individual nights.

Single Day passes available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at $38, $48, and $28 respectively.

A four-day pass may still be available for $110, which would cover Friday-Sunday for a small discount.

Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

October 11, 9pm @ Cat’s Cradle

Although there may be some debate whether Led Zeppelin was the greatest rock band of the seventies, there is no doubt that Zoso is the premier Led Zeppelin tribute band. Since 1995, Zoso has been true to the appearance and distinct approach of the famous group, and has been touring extensively for over ten years. Numerous media outlets praise Zoso for being an authentic representation of the classic hits, and for those who weren’t alive in the 70’s or missed Led Zeppelin in concert, this is the next best thing. Cat’s Cradle is an excellent venue for rock music and should be an excellent place to relive the sounds of Physical Graffiti and Led Zeppelin IV.

He offers one million dollars to anyone who can prove his methods aren’t genuine, and he blows away his audience with mind-bending results. Card tricks and sleight of hand are only the tip of the iceberg. This man is a true performer and entertainer, so don’t miss this opportunity to see a pop culture icon at The ArtsCenter.

Check out for more on Kreskin and his exploits.

October 13, 11am @ Weaver Street Market

Craic is a Irish word that is loosely translated as entertainment or a good time. Craicdown is a group of musicians looking to bring plenty of craic to Carrboro on Sunday morning. Get some shopping done, grab an espresso from Market Street Coffee, or just chill out and listen to the upbeat acoustic sounds from the roots music trio. Craicdown includes fiddle, accordion and Irish cittern along with the traditional guitar and percussion elements to create a sound unlike any specific genre. Come see a truly unique band and meet some of your neighbors in Carrboro this Sunday.

Get to the webpage and pick up a copy of their new album Roads.
