7/14/17: Keb Mo “A Better Man”
“Playing for Change” is a great musical project. It’s meant to bring people from all over the county, and all over the world, together. It’s an initiative meant to inspire people, with the hope to bring peace to the world through an exceptionally powerful force: music.
Music can make you appreciate other people, their cultures, their beliefs. Music can open floodgates of emotion and memory, and ease communication where there may be barriers in place. The people behind “Playing for Change” have gone out and gotten some big-name artists to participate, along with some not-so-well-known folks from all over the world, to sing and play together. The way the whole thing is edited together is just amazing… it’s like they’re all performing the same song – simultaneously – on a world stage.
The specific song I had in my head this morning was “A Better Man,” by Keb Mo. Mo is a blues musician who’s been involved with the project since the very beginning, both as an artist and directly contributing money to the cause. Just listen to this, and maybe (just maybe!) you’ll be inspired to do a little more good in the world. This song inspires me to try and be a better person, and that feelings sticks with me after the song is over. Maybe it could work for you, too!
