2/13/18 – Lenny Kravitz “Are You Gonna Go My Way”
Lenny Kravitz is an incredibly talented guy, and it’s not hard for his music to get stuck in my head. There’s a lot about his tunes, his guitar riffs especially, that makes them powerful and catchy. The one in my head today features an amazing bass and drum that kicks it off, and of course some iconic guitar! Tell me, are you gonna go my way?
It’s almost like Lenny Kravitz was destined to be in show business, one way or another. His mom was Roxie Roker, who was a regular on “The Jeffersons,” and Lenny got into music at an early age. Over the years, he’s taught himself to play a whole slew of instruments, and he’s made some great music along the way. You still hear “Fly Away” and his incredible cover of “American Woman” play on the radio quite a bit, and “It’s Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” and “Let Love Rule” still get plenty of play on my stereo.
Lenny is usually responsible for just about everything that goes on his records, doing his own back-up singing, and playing all the instruments when he’s recording in the studio. My favorite Kravitz song, though, is the one that’s in my head today. If you can listen to this song without getting up and moving around, you’ve got better self-control than I do!
