Talullas and Mediterranean Deli are both delicious, high quality Mediterranean food — but I’ve always felt like they are mostly suited for “occasions.” If you’re looking for some great, reasonably-priced Mediterranean food that you can eat on the fly for lunch or dinner, you should definitely check out the new kid on the block: Pita Grill, located in the Timberlyne Shopping Center at 1129 Weaver Dairy Road.
Fresh on the scene and opened in late July, Pita Grill is a causal, quaint and cozy little place. The bright yellow walls, the hookahs sprinkled across the wall and the openness between the action of the kitchen and the diners themselves all work together to create the relaxed ambiance of the place.
Offering a variety of different foods, from Greek lasagna and turkey wraps to the classic gyro platter, Pita Grill extends its reach in the spectrum of Mediterranean food — without sacrificing the original essence. Reasonably priced and diverse enough for multiple palates, Pita Grill serves as the perfect place for the casual college student or family looking for a quick and delicious lunch or dinner.
And I have to say, the food doesn’t disappoint. I ordered a gyro platter while my sister went for a more eclectic option of humus, grape leaves, and falafel. The gyro meat was on point — perfectly seasoned and complemented by the tzatziki sauce poured over it. We didn’t go for desert this time, but as someone of Middle Eastern origin, I highly recommend that you try the baklava. Pita Grill also offers fresh fruit, rice pudding, and New York style cheesecake. The deserts are simple, clean, and if they are anything like the food, delicious.
This is a minor detail, but Pita Grill is a family-run business. This might not seem important, but I think my favorite restaurants are the ones where you feel like there is a palpable dynamic between all of the different components in the system. When you’re eating there, you feel like you are experiencing a family, something you can’t get everywhere you go. It’s a unique and interesting experience, to say the least.
Pita Grill is the new kid on the scene, and I think it’s definitely showing up. The food is great, the ambiance is fun, and its exactly what the Timberlyne Shopping Center needed — a casual place to have well-priced but delicious food. I highly recommend that you go check it out!

CHAPEL HILL – The Pita Grill is opening a new location in the Timberlyne Shopping Center off Weaver Dairy Road.
It’s moving into the space previously housed by J&J’s Deli, confirms Paige Boyette, Marketing coordinator for Rivercrest Realty— the shopping center’s owner.
“The lease has been executed,” Boyette says.
She expects the Pita Grill, which serves gyros, wraps, and salads, to open in about a month.http://chapelboro.com/news/news-around-time/pita-grill-coming-to-timberlyne-shopping-center/
