No. 3 Clemson Back To Work After Losing WR Peake

COLUMBIA – Coach Dabo Swinney says Clemson’s offense will continue to run smoothly with reserve receiver Adam Humphries in the starting lineup.

Humphries is replacing Charone Peake, who was the Tigers (2-0) second-leading receiver when he tore his ACL in a non-contact drill a week ago and now needs season-ending surgery.

That means Humphries, Peake’s high-school teammate from Dorman, will be front-and-center when No. 3 Clemson faces North CarolinaState (2-0) in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both teams Thursday night.

Humphries has started five of 29 games in his career and has 63 catches and a touchdown. But Swinney says Humphries is usually in the middle of big moments,  perhaps none bigger than his 9-yard catch that set up Clemson’s game-winning field goal in last season’s Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
