The top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team picked up another quality victory Thursday night in Winston-Salem, as it knocked off the No. 19 Wake Forest Demon Deacons by a score of 5-2.

Sophomore Makenna Jones notched the clinching point on Court One when she defeated Wake Forest’s Emma Davis 6-2, 6-2, putting the Tar Heels (19-2, 7-1 ACC) ahead 4-0 at that point in the match.

With the outcome already decided, the Demon Deacons (15-6, 4-4 ACC) earned victories in two of the final three singles matches in order to get on the scoreboard.

This came after UNC won the doubles point fr the 19th time in 21 matches so far this season, proving once again why it’s the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Tar Heels will now get set to travel to South Bend for match at Notre Dame on Friday (4 p.m.)
