The top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team had its 11-match conference win streak snapped Saturday afternoon, as the No. 6 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pulled off a 4-3 upset in Chapel Hill.
UNC fell to 16-2 this season with the loss (5-1 ACC), which was its first against another ACC opponent in almost a full year.
For only the second time this season, the Tar Heels dropped the doubles point–allowing Georgia Tech to take the early 1-0 lead into the singles portion of the match.
The Yellow Jackets then clinched the victory by going up 4-0 with wins on Courts One, Three and Five.
UNC closed things out strong with a trio of wins that closed the gap on the scoreboard, but ultimately had no impact on the final results.
