Inside Lacrosse released its annual preseason women’s All-American teams on Tuesday, naming a trio of Tar Heel seniors to the rosters.

Midfielder Marie McCool earned a spot on the First Team, while midfielder Maggie Bill and attacker Ela Hazar each were selected to the Second Team.

Redshirt sophomore defender Erin Kelly nearly made the cut, but was chosen as an honorable mention.

McCool is expected to lead head coach Jenny Levy’s squad this season after spending this past offseason as the youngest member on the U.S. National Team that won the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in England.

She has already been named a First Team All-American twice in her three-year collegiate career and was one of five finalists for last year’s Tewaaraton Award–which recognizes the national player of the year.

Hazar, meanwhile, shattered the UNC single-season record with 40 assists in 2017, and needs just 19 to break the school’s career record held by Becky Lynch.

A knee injury caused Bill to miss the back half of the 2017 campaign, but she hopes to bounce back this season and regain the form she had when she was named a Second Team All-American as a sophomore in 2016.

The Tar Heels are scheduled to begin their regular season this Saturday when they travel to face James Madison.
