Times have been tough lately for the UNC women’s basketball team–which closed the regular season on a nine-game losing skid–but there were some bright spots.

Among them were junior guard Paris Kea and freshman forward Janelle Bailey.

Kea was named to the All-ACC First Team by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Tuesday, while Bailey earned a spot on the league’s All-Rookie Team.

A native North Carolinian from Tarboro who transferred to UNC from Vanderbilt prior to last season, Kea led the Tar Heels with 18.8 points and 4.9 assists per game. Both numbers also ranked fourth in the ACC.

She scored 30 or more points on four separate occasions, including a career-high 36 points in UNC’s victory over Duke on Jan. 21–the last time the team put a check in the win column.

Meanwhile, Bailey has shown that she will be a force inside for head coach Sylvia Hatchell for years to come.

The 6-foot-4-inch forward has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week seven times this season, and led all ACC freshmen in both scoring (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg).

UNC (14-15, 4-12  ACC) will have one last shot to keep its season alive, when it takes on Boston College Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the conference tournament.

The Tar Heels are the No. 12 seed, while the Eagles are seeded 13th.

Tip-off from the Greensboro Coliseum is scheduled for 1 p.m.
