The UNC volleyball team earned its second straight conference victory on Friday night, with a 3-1 road win over the Clemson Tigers (25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16).

Sophomore Sydnye Fields led the Tar Heels with 13 kills in the match, while four other UNC players contributed at least seven kills in a balanced team effort.

Holly Carlton was UNC’s top playmaker in the match, posting a team-high 27 assists and 11 digs.

The Tar Heels are now 5-6 this season, with a 2-1 record against ACC competition. Clemson, meanwhile, drops to 5-10 (0-3 ACC) with the loss.

After taking the first set, UNC narrowly lost the second set to the Tigers by just two points. From there, head coach Joe Sagula’s squad recovered to win the final two sets–and showed why they were the preseason favorites to win the conference.
