The highly-ranked UNC men’s and women’s lacrosse teams won in dominating fashion over the weekend.

The No. 11 men’s team blitzed No. 20 Virginia right out of the gate, jumping out to a 10-1 lead in the first 24 minutes of action. The Tar Heels rode that momentum to a 16-8 victory in the game played in Kenan Stadium.

Six Tar Heels scored twice on the way to doubling up the Cavaliers.

UNC improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The Tar Heels will next travel to No. 10 Syracuse next Saturday afternoon.

For the UNC women’s team, the third-ranked Tar Heels remain undefeated in conference play with a 15-5 thrashing of No. 5 Louisville. The Tar Heels got a career-high 13 saves from senior goalie Megan Ward.

UNC is now 11-2 on the season and 5-0 in ACC play.

The Tar Heel women’s team will also face Syracuse on Saturday.
