The NCAA released its bracket for this year’s Division I Women’s Tennis Tournament, with UNC receiving the No. 2 overall seed.

Having won both the ACC regular season and tournament championships, the Tar Heels (30-2) earned a national seed for the 15th time in 16 years under head coach Brian Kalbas.

This also means UNC will have the luxury of hosting the first two rounds in Chapel Hill at the Cone Kenfield Tennis Center.

The Florida Gators (23-3) were the team handed the No. 1 overall seed. The ACC placed eight teams into the event.

Furman (23-5) will be the Tar Heels’ first opponent–a match which will take place at noon on Saturday, May 12–with the winner advancing to face either Ole Miss (14-13) or William & Mary (14-10) the next day.

Although it’s UNC’s 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the Tar Heels have yet to win a national title.

Led by the nation’s No. 2 overall player in Hayley Carter–and two other First Team All-ACC performers in Sara Daavettila and Jessie Aney–UNC has a great shot at doing so this season.
