After honoring its three seniors prior to the start of Sunday’s home match against Pittsburgh, the top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team then rolled to a 6-1 victory to close out the regular season.

Seniors Maggie Kane and Cassandra Vasquez paired together to help the Tar Heels (23-3, 12-2 ACC) take the doubles point at the beginning of the match, while fellow senior Marika Akkerman delivered the clinching point during singles play.

UNC won each of the first five singles matches to take a 6-0 lead on the team scoreboard, before Pitt (6-15, 0-14 ACC) finally got a three-set victory on Court Four from Claudia Bartolome over Jessie Aney.

On Court One, sophomore Makenna Jones improved to 14-0 this season against ACC competition–the first Tar Heel to do so since Jamie Loeb in 2013-14.
