The ninth-ranked UNC women’s soccer team flexed its collective muscles on Friday night at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, as it rolled to a 5-0 blowout victory over the Auburn Tigers.
Joanna Boyles scored twice for UNC (3-1), while the team also received goals from Dorian Bailey, Alessia Russo and Miah Araba.
In total, the Tar Heels piled up a whopping 23 shots compared to just two for Auburn. It was the most goals UNC has scored in a single game since putting up seven against Fresno State back in 2015.
Auburn (2-2-1) kept the Tar Heels off the scoreboard for the first 28 minutes of game time, until Russo scored an outstanding goal from 25 yards out.
UNC then held onto its 1-0 lead for a while, before pulling away with its final four goals during the final 26 minutes of the match.
