The watch list for this year’s Mackey Award–given each year to the most outstanding tight end in college football–was released on Tuesday, with UNC junior Brandon Fritts finding his name among the candidates.

At 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Fritts presents the Tar Heel offense with a huge target across the middle.

Throughout his career, Fritts has hauled in 22 passes for 265 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

A high school–and college–teammate of current Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky, Fritts was limited by injuries in 2016, but figures to make huge strides this upcoming season.

His presence in the passing game will likely be needed much more following the departures of wide receivers Ryan Switzer, Mack Hollins and Bug Howard to the NFL.

The winner of the Mackey Award will be announced live at the College Football Awards Show on Dec. 7.
