A pair of tough losses in the final week of the regular season against top competition ultimately didn’t hurt UNC too much in the AP Men’s Basketball Top 25, as the Tar Heels only fell three spots to No. 12 in this week’s edition–which was released on Monday.

Virginia was ranked as the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation, with Villanova, Xavier, Michigan State and Duke rounding out the top five.

The rest of the top 10 includes: No. 6 Gonzaga, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Cincinnati, No. 9 Kansas and No. 10 Purdue.

A total of five ACC teams were ranked in the poll, with No. 19 Clemson and No. 24 Miami joining Virginia, Duke and UNC in the mix.

The Tar Heels (22-9, 11-7 ACC) earned the No. 6 seed for this week’s ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, and are scheduled to begin play on Wednesday against the winner of Syracuse and Wake Forest.
