This past Sunday, six UNC men’s lacrosse players heard their names called during the annual Major League Lacrosse draft–which was held in Boston.

ACC Defender of the Year, and First Team All-American selection, Austin Pifani was the first Tar Heel selected when the New York Lizards chose him in the second round with the 14th overall pick.

The Denver Outlaws chose short-stick defensive midfielder Tate Jozokos in the fourth round (36th overall), while senior attacker Luke Goldstock went to the Boston Cannons shortly after–in the early stages of the fifth round (41st overall).

Other Tar Heels drafted include: midfielder/face-off specialist Stephen Kelly (Chesapeake Bayhawks, sixth round, 48th overall), midfielder Michael Tagliaferri (Florida Launch, seventh round, 55th overall), and midfielder Brett Bedard (Chesapeake Bayhawks, ninth round, 75th overall).

UNC went 8-8 this past season, coming off a national championship run in 2016. The Tar Heels were eliminated in the First Round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament, after suffering a 15-12 loss to Albany.
