As the North Carolina Tar Heels are working to get back to the success the baseball team enjoyed during the early stages of the 2016 campaign, they have little time to sulk over a weekend series loss to Louisville.

Carolina dropped two of the three games to the ninth-ranked Cardinals. But the Tar Heels will be back in action on Tuesday night hosting East Carolina. The Pirates are ranked 21st in the latest D1Baseball rankings released on Monday.

UNC continues to be ranked highly in the RPI standings, due to the strength of schedule Carolina has played, but the Tar Heels need to secure wins over the next two weeks to lock down a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournaments.

It will be a busy week for UNC, beginning with the game on Tuesday night. Carolina will then travel to Wilmington to take on the Seahawks on Wednesday night, before welcoming in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to Chapel Hill for a weekend series.

The contest against ECU will be the second time the two teams have squared off this season. The Tar Heels traveled to Greenville and beat the Pirates 17-4 in March, when Carolina was on its way to an 18-2 start on the year.

UNC enters the game Tuesday with a record of 30-17. First pitch is scheduled for six o’clock.
