The Preseason AP Top 25 for men’s basketball was released on Wednesday, with UNC ranked No. 9 to start the 2017-18 campaign.

Duke was listed as No. 1 after receiving 33 of the 65 first place votes, while Michigan State, Arizona, Kansas and Kentucky round out the top five.

Other schools ranked ahead of UNC include: No. 6 Villanova, No. 7 Wichita State and No. 8 Florida. Checking in just behind the Tar Heels is No. 10 USC.

The only other ACC squads besides Duke and UNC to make the cut were No. 13 Miami, No. 14 Notre Dame and No. 16 Louisville.

UNC is scheduled to begin its regular season with a home game against Northern Iowa on Nov. 10.
