Stuck in the longest national championship drought in program history–a whopping four seasons–the UNC women’s soccer team hopes to reclaim what was once viewed as a guaranteed title every year.

This season’s Tar Heels were listed at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll released on Friday–and are the highest-ranked team from the ACC.

West Virginia–which eliminated UNC in last year’s NCAA Tournament–starts the season at No. 1.

The rest of the top five includes: Stanford, last year’s national champion USC, South Carolina and Georgetown.

In total, the ACC led all conferences with six teams among the initial top 25.

Besides the Tar Heels, the list of the league’s other ranked squads includes: No. 11 Virginia, No. 12 Duke, No. 13 Clemson, No. 15 Florida State and No. 18 Notre Dame.

UNC is set to begin its season on Friday, August 18 with a top-25 matchup against the Blue Devils.
