The annual women’s Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason poll was revealed on Tuesday, with UNC heading into the 2020 campaign as the No. 1 team in the country.
With six All-Americans returning to a loaded roster for head coach Jenny Levy, expectations are extremely high for the Tar Heels–who have won each of the last four ACC championships in the sport.
These rankings were compiled by the staff at US Lacrosse magazine, with input also collected from college coaches.
Behind the Tar Heels in the top five is a group of teams including: No. 2 Syracuse, No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Northwestern and No. 5 Boston College.
The rest of the top 10 consists of No. 6 Princeton, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Michigan, No. 9 Penn and No. 10 USC.
In total, the ACC has five teams among the nation’s top 20. Joining UNC, Syracuse, Boston College and Virginia in the poll is No. 11 Notre Dame.
