UNC men’s lacrosse players swept the Atlantic Coast Conference’s weekly awards after a come-from-behind victory over Johns Hopkins last weekend.
The No. 10 Tar Heels knocked off the eighth-ranked Blue Jays in Baltimore 15-11.
Junior midfielder Shane Simpson won ACC Offensive Player of the Week and junior midfielder Stephen Kelly earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Simpson accumulated a career-high five points with two goals and three assists in the win, including assisting on a fourth-quarter go-ahead and eventual game-winning goals.
Kelly won six of eight face-offs in the fourth quarter. Kelly’s 17 face-off wins is a season high.
The Tar Heels moved to 3-1 on the season but have a tough matchup with defending national champion Denver on Saturday.
