NEW ORLEANS– The first big weekend in cross country proved to be a stand-out one for the Tar Heels.
Some major shake-ups at the top of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association Division I Regional Rankings left Carolina at the top of the ladder, claiming the No. 1 ranking in the Southeast Region.
The Carolina men edged out ranked regional opponents Eastern Kentucky and Virginia on Saturday at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational, winning the competition with a team-low 58 points.
UNC is ranked just outside the top ten at No. 13 in the current national polls.
