Having posted a record of 17-5 over its past 22 games, the UNC baseball team is moving back up the rankings in a hurry.

This week’s edition of the D1Baseball.com Top 25 has the Tar Heels moving up six spots from No. 21 to No. 15 after defeating Appalachian State last Tuesday and taking two out of three games from Virginia over the weekend.

All of this comes after UNC started the year No. 6, but tumbled out of the poll thanks to a lukewarm 7-7 start to the season.

Defending national champion Florida remains No. 1 in the rankings, with Stanford, Arkansas, NC State and Texas Tech rounding out the top five. Other teams in the top 10 include: No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Oregon State, No. 8 Indiana, No. 9 Duke and No. 10 Vanderbilt.

In addition to the three teams from the Triangle, the ACC is also represented by No. 17 Clemson and No. 18 Florida State.

Next on the docket for the Tar Heels is a top-15 showdown against the Wolfpack on Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, before returning home to host Georgia Tech for a three-game weekend series.
