National Signing Day has come and gone for the UNC football team, as head coach Larry Fedora received signed letters of intent from 14 incoming recruits for the Class of 2018 early Wednesday morning.

The star of the class is four-star wide receiver Jordyn Adams from Green Hope High School in nearby Cary, North Carolina.

Adams–the son of UNC defensive line coach Deke Adams–is a 6-foot-2-inch playmaker in both the passing game and as a return man. He is ranked as the No. 75 player in the country regardless of position by 24/7 Sports.

He is one of four recruits heading to Chapel Hill with the four-star designation.

Fedora also added big-play receiver Dyami Brown (No. 172 overall) from West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, to go along with offensive guard Avery Jones (Havelock High School, No. 282 overall) and dual-threat quarterback Jace Ruder (Norton, Kansas, No. 317 overall).

One notable name missing from the list is outside linebacker Payton Wilson, the local star from Orange High School who is listed as the nation’s No. 67 overall prospect and No. 4 at his position.

Wilson verbally committed to UNC earlier this year before tearing his ACL mid-season and flipping his commitment to head coach Dave Doeren and the NC State Wolfpack.

Each of UNC’s 10 remaining recruits are listed as three-star players–headlined by running back Devon Lawrence out of Wake Forest High School (No. 420 overall).

This group will be counted on to help the Tar Heels rebound next season and beyond after the team suffered through a 3-9 campaign last year–the worst record the program has had since 2006.

This is the first year the NCAA has allowed for this early signing period. Fedora and the staff have another opportunity to add to this year’s recruiting class on the traditional signing day in early February but most of the recruiting haul is now in the bag for UNC.
