Brackets for the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships were released on Wednesday, with a pair of Tar Heels earning national seeds in their respective weight classes.

Troy Heilmann was named the No. 4 seed at 149 pounds, while Ethan Ramos received the No. 10 spot at 174 pounds.

A total of eight Tar Heels will be competing in Cleveland, but Heilmann and Ramos were the only two to be seeded.

Heilmann’s No. 4 ranking comes on the heels of his first career ACC Championship, and is the highest a Tar Heel has been seeded in the event since Ramos entered the 2016 tournament as the No. 4 seed at 174.

He currently has an individual record of 29-4. The opening round will see Heilmann take on Tyshawn Williams of SIU-Edwardsville–a wrestler he defeated 14-6 earlier this season at the South Beach Duals.

Ramos, meanwhile, is making his fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The two-time ACC champ is scheduled to take on Virginia Tech’s Hunter Bolen in the first round, a rematch of last weekend’s 174-pound conference final.

Other Tar Heels who qualified for the tournament include: Zach Sherman (133 pounds), A.C. Headlee (141), Kennedy Monday (157), Chip Ness (184), Danny Chaid (197) and Cory Daniel (heavyweight).

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 15.
