On the same day the UNC volleyball team was tabbed unanimously to repeat as ACC Champions, the Tar Heels also placed a league-high three players on the Preseason All-ACC list.
Junior outside hitter Taylor Leath–last year’s conference Player of the Year–highlights UNC’s selections, which make up nearly 20 percent of the 18-player roster.
Reigning ACC Freshman of the Year Julia Scoles joins Leath and senior Taylor Fricano as Tar Heels to earn the honor.
Louisville, NC State, Pittsburgh, Miami and Notre Dame each had two players selected to the All-ACC list, while four league schools did not have a single player named.
UNC is scheduled to begin its season on Friday, August 25 in Madison, Wisconsin as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Tar Heels will have matches against a pair of top-five teams–Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“We have a good core group of returning players who have experience and know what it takes to play at a high level and be successful,” UNC head coach Joe Sagula said. “We now have to go on the court and prove it each day, one match at a time.”
