The season may not have ended exactly according to script for the UNC field hockey team, but three members of the squad received great news on Wednesday as they received All-America honors.

Senior Julia Young was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America First Team after a fantastic season that saw her take home the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award.

A native of Yorktown, Virginia, Young is the 36th different Tar Heel field hockey player to ever be named a First Team All-American. She was named to the Second Team in 2015.

Midfielder Emma Bozek was selected to the Second Team this year, finishing the season with five goals and six assists.

Rounding out UNC’s group off All-Americans is Third Team forward Lauren Moyer–who led the Tar Heels with 24 goals, more than doubling the amount she had over the first three years of her career.

Despite falling just short in the national championship game against Delaware, UNC was one of only four schools–along with Maryland, UCONN and Syracuse–to place three players on the All-American teams.
