CHAPEL HILL – UNC’s massive face-off at South Carolina is on Thursday, but Head Coach Larry Fedora and Tar Heel fans everywhere are already celebrating.

In a huge boost for the Carolina football program, five-star Class of 2014 running back Elijah Hood announced via Twitter on Tuesday evening that he will be heading to Chapel Hill to join the Tar Heels next season.

Citing his love for the improving program under Coach Fedora and a desire to stay closer to home and his family, Hood decommitted from Notre Dame and chose to align with the ever-improving play on the gridiron at the flagship school in his home state.

Hood, the star player for Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, currently has 19 offers from around the country and chose the Tar Heels over Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford and USC, among others.

Is this a sign for things to come for the Tar Heels on the gridiron? The opener against South Carolina kicks off on Thursday
