Josh Ladowski had two huge hits off the bench in extra innings on Friday night to help the UNC baseball team pick up an 8-4 win over the Miami Hurricanes on the road–taking the series opener between the two teams in the process.

Ladowski’s triple in the 11th inning helped UNC (20-10, 9-4 ACC) take a 4-3 lead, but Miami (12-17, 6-7 ACC) tied things right back up in the home half of the frame to force yet another inning.

In the 12th, Zack Gahagan delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI hit to centerfield while Ben Casparius followed soon after with an RBI of his own to give the Tar Heels a two-run lead.

From there, Ladowski came up big again–this time hitting a two-run double that ultimately gave the game its final score.

Sophomore reliever Josh Hiatt was given credit for the win on the mound after shutting Miami down in its half of the 12th, as UNC has now won 13 of its last 16 games following a slow start to the season.
