The UNC baseball team came up just short of a sweep at Georgia Tech this past weekend, but still came away with a second straight ACC series victory to open the conference season.

Holding a 15-5 record–4-2 in the ACC–through their first 20 games, the Tar Heels earned themselves the No. 10 spot in the most recent D1baseball.com Top 25.

Led by dominant pitching that has produced a 2.22 team ERA–and an offense just 13 home runs shy of last year’s season total–UNC appears to have staying power atop the ACC Coastal Division.

The Atlantic Division is led by No. 2 Louisville and No. 7 Clemson, the only teams in the league ranked higher than the Tar Heels.

Florida State fell from No. 1 all the way to No. 13 after dropping a series to Virginia Tech, while Virginia slipped seven spots to No. 21.

Only the SEC–with seven–has more teams among the top 25 than the ACC’s five.

UNC will attempt to keep its good mojo this week with a visit to East Carolina on Wednesday, followed by a three-game series at Boshamer Stadium over the weekend against Miami.
