A pair of impressive blowout victories for UNC this week–over NC State on Wednesday and then-No. 14 Virginia at home on Saturday–saw the Tar Heels climb two spots in this week’s AP Top 25.

Released on Monday, the new poll has UNC checking in at No. 8–good enough to be the second-highest ranked team from the ACC.

A crucial conference matchup on Wednesday, however, against No. 7 Louisville may be enough to launch the Tar Heels even further in the rankings should they come out with the win.

Gonzaga, Villanova and Kansas continue to hold onto the top three spots in the country, while Arizona and UCLA now make up the rest of the top five after Baylor’s loss to Kansas this past week.

Duke also rejoined the top 10 in the poll–at No. 10–while No. 18 Virginia, No. 19 Florida State and No. 21 Notre Dame round out the ACC’s six selections, a number that continues to lead the country.

Following Wednesday’s collision with Louisville, UNC will then travel to face unranked Pittsburgh on the road on Saturday.
