CHAPEL HILL-The no. 3 UNC women’s lacrosse team is set to open up NCAA tournament play on Sunday in the second round when they take on no. 11 Loyola.

The third-seeded Heels have showcased impressive numbers this season, with an overall record of 14-3. This is their ninth year in a row and their 15th year overall with an appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Loyola earned the right to face the Heels after cruising past High Point 18-7 on Friday in Chapel Hill in the NCAA tournament’s first round. The Greyhounds, who currently sit at 11-8 overall, saw goals from 10 different players, including hat tricks from Joanna Dalton and Hannah Schmidt.

Big regular season wins for Loyola included a victory over no. 7 Penn State 13-11 and a double overtime victory over no. 9 Notre Dame 14-13. The Heels, meanwhile, have taken down no. 2 Northwestern 11-8 and no. 6 Georgetown 17-11.

Sunday’s game is set to get started at 1:00 in the afternoon at Chapel Hill’s Fetzer Field. The game will also stream live online at goheels.com.
