CHAPEL HILL– The Tar Heel women’s basketball team slid up a spot to No. 6 in the AP poll released Monday following a light game featuring one win – a comfortable one at Wake Forest.

The 17-3 Carolina squad will next hit the court against Syracuse this Thursday at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Arena.

Also of note in the latest poll, 20-1 Duke checks in at No. 3 yet again and will face fellow ACC member Notre Dame, the second-ranked team, Sunday in Durham.

ACC teams Maryland, N.C.State and Florida State are ranked No. 8, No. 18 and No. 23, respectively.

As for the men, the 12-7 Tar Heels remain unranked following a week that featured a win against Clemson and a loss at Virginia.

And for the eighth consecutive week, undefeated Arizona and Syracuse remain 1-2 in the polls. No. 17 Duke is closely followed by new ACC member Pittsburgh, landing at No. 18 in the AP poll.
