Make it seven straight wins for the fifth-ranked UNC men’s soccer team, which laid a 4-0 beatdown on the Winthrop Eagles Tuesday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium in Greensboro.

The Tar Heels put together a wire-to-wire victory, after forward Jelani Pieters scored the game’s first goal in just 85 seconds.

Zach Wright–who assisted on Pieters’ opening goal–then took advantage of a poor clearing attempt by the Winthrop defense 10 minutes later and scored one of his own.

Despite sprinting out to an early 2-0 lead, UNC kept the pressure on.

Lucas Del Rosario added a goal just before halftime, while Giovanni Montesdeoca chipped in the team’s final goal in the 71st minute.

Overall, the Tar Heels (9-1) finished with 17 shots in the match, while holding Winthrop (2-6-1) without any.
