CHAPEL HILL– So who can “take it to the house” for the Tar Heel football team this season?

Head Coach Larry Fedora says he knows sophomore tailback Romar Morris can.

“We got some guys back there that can take it to the house now,” Coach Fedora says. “They can take it the distance. They can go from the one to the goal line, 99 yards; they can do it. I assure you. […] Romar would be back there right now. And I can promise you he can take it to the house.”

The more success Carolina has running the football, the more pressure will be taken off quarterback Bryn Renner’s shoulders to carry the offense. Coach Fedora says he envisions a running back rotation this season with added emphasis going to the hot hand.

“With the tempo that we play, […] I anticipate probably two or three backs playing in a game,” Coach Fedora says. “But it will be the most productive guy that gets the majority of the carries.”

One interesting storyline coming out of Tar Heel training camp is the possibility of Jack Tabb playing on both sides of the football—tight end and linebacker. Coach Fedora says Tabb is one of his most intelligent players.

“We feel like we could throw Jack over, let him learn base defense right now as a linebacker, learn some things about it, bring him back in three or four days and throw him back in at tight end, and he will know it like it’s nothing,” Coach Fedora says.

This time of the season often serves as an audition tape, and some emerging, young Tar Heels are starting to make some noise, getting Fedora’s attention with their big plays in scrimmage and practices. Coach Fedora says Lucas Crowley, T.J. Logan and Ryan Switzer were among those who came to his mind.

The clock just keeps ticking; kickoff is nearly two weeks away. It is then that we will be able to see who can truly take it the house.
