While we are just beginning March Madness on the basketball court, spring practice started on Sunday for the UNC football team.

The Tar Heels are coming off of one of the most successful seasons in program history – winning the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division. But Carolina lost several key members of the team who were seniors.

A lot of attention will be paid to the quarterback position. It is likely, even expected, that Mitch Trubisky will be taking over for the departed Marquise Williams. Trubisky has served as the main backup over the last two years and has shown promise when on the field. Head coach Larry Fedora has not officially named Trubisky as the starting quarterback, saying the junior will have to earn that through his play this spring.

The Tar Heel football team went through an intense conditioning regimen in late February to prepare for spring football, and Carolina will be back on the practice field on Tuesday evening.

Spring practice will culminate with the spring game at Kenan Stadium on April 16.
