UNC forward Brice Johnson has been named first-team All-American by Sports Illustrated.
Johnson is joined on the first team by fellow seniors Buddy Hield from Oklahoma and Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine.
A pair of sophomores rounds out the squad with Utah’s Jakob Poeltl and Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis.
Johnson was named first-team All-America by USA Today and to the third team by Sporting News, one of the four publications where a first or second team nomination would get his jersey in the Dean E. Smith Center rafters.
Johnson averaged 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while accumulating 19 double-doubles on the season.
Johnson and the Tar Heels take on Pittsburgh at noon on Thursday in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
