Anson Dorrance Interview

It is the first time since 2005 that the Carolina Women’s Soccer team has wrapped up non-conference play undefeated and untied. And Coach Dorrance says he attributes that feat to some returning veterans.

Coach Dorrance says the Tar Heels’ Friday night triumph over the second ranked UCLA Bruins was an enormous scalp for his team. He says it’s wins like those that pay off in NCAA tournament seeding down the road.

UNC’s Joanna Morris is supposed to be a high school senior, but instead she punched in a beautiful goal for the Tar Heels on Sunday against West Virginia. Coach Dorrance is excited about the future of the young “soccer junkie.”

Up next for the Tar Heel women is a trip to Blacksburg for the ACC opener versus Virginia Tech. Coach Dorrance says his team will need to come out firing on the road to ensure they keep their undefeated season intact.
