For the 14th time over the last 15 seasons, a UNC defensive lineman has heard his name called during the NFL Draft.

The Seattle Seahawks selected junior defensive tackle Nazair Jones in the third round (102nd overall) on Friday night–making him the most recent addition to the list.

A Third Team All-ACC performer in each of the last two seasons, Jones decided to forego his final year of eligibility at UNC in order to pursue his NFL dreams.

After battling an illness at Roanoke Rapids High School which left him unable to walk for a period of time, Jones’ selection is a testament to all the hard work he’s put in to reach this point.

He finished his UNC career with 145 tackles–21 of those forcing the offense into losing yards.

Jones also began a non-profit organization called “Made Men Mentoring” during his time as a Tar Heel. The organization offers a support system for underprivileged young men in North Carolina, pairing them up with college athletes who provide help in academics, athletics and manhood.
