Two Tar Heels were included on the Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey team–which was released by the league on Tuesday.

Selected by the conference’s seven head coaches–a group which also picked UNC as the favorite to win the league–the All-ACC team is made up of just 11 players.

Junior midfielders Ashley Hoffman and Eva Van’t Hoog are the representatives from head coach Karen Shelton’s squad this season.

The pair joins a stacked roster which includes seven players who were named All-Americans last season–including Virginia midfielder Tara Vittese, the National Player of the Year.

Hoffman tied for UNC’s team lead with 10 assists in 2016, while finishing second on the squad with nine goals.

Van’t Hoog chipped in eight goals and five assists while joining Hoffman in the starting lineup for all 26 of UNC’s games.

The Tar Heels are currently scheduled to begin their season on Saturday, August 26 with a game against Michigan.
