Ohio State running back Antonio Williams–a rising junior–announced Monday he will return to his home state and transfer to play his final two years of eligibility at UNC after sitting out the upcoming 2018 season.

A former four-star recruit coming out of North Stanly High School in New London, North Carolina, Williams saw limited playing time at Ohio State–serving last season as the third-string back behind starters Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins.

Williams ran for 290 yards and three touchdowns last season, while also catching five passes for 25 yards. As a freshman in 2016, he carried the ball just six times for 28 yards.

Prior to committing to Ohio State as a high-schooler, he was pledged to head coach Larry Fedora and the Tar Heels for 10 months before eventually de-comitting in July 2014.

From there, Williams committed to Wisconsin for 10 months as well. Following yet another de-commitment, he ultimately settled on head coach Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes.

Now, though, the 5-foot-11-inch, 210-pound tailback is returning home to add more depth to a Tar Heel backfield that already boasts talented runners Jordon Brown and Michael Carter.
