The second-ranked North Carolina women’s tennis team knocked off the visiting No. 37 NC State Wolfpack on Wednesday afternoon 6-1.

On the strength of a win from the top-ranked doubles team in the country in Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay, the Tar Heels secured the doubles point.

UNC then won five singles matches in straight sets for the dominant victory.

UNC moved up to No. 2 in the national rankings earlier in the week.

The Tar Heels will continue a busy stretch of Atlantic Coast Conference play facing No. 30 Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon in Blacksburg before returning to Chapel Hill to host No. 55 Boston College on Sunday. The match against the Eagels will be Senior Day for UNC.
