MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.– The No. 14 Carolina women’s basketball team snagged a school record for most points in a game in a 124-41 win over New Orleans at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Monday night.

UNC, now 9-2 on the season, went on a 17-0 run to begin the game, and from there the Tar Heels never looked back. In fact, the Tar Heels set a school record for widest margin of victory at 83 points.

Freshman sensation Diamond DeShields scored 20 points to co-lead the Tar Heels in points alongside Allisha Gray. Latifah Coleman had a standout performance, tallying her first double-double in her career with 13 points and 12 assists.

At halftime, Carolina led 72-18. Octavia Wilson led New Orleans with 21 points, but the Privateers were overmatched.

UNC shot 64.3 percent from the floor and netted 14 three-pointers.

The Tar Heels will next take on No. 10 South Carolina on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Myrtle Beach.
